The Department of English established in 1993 has been trying to impart knowledge of English literature and language in particular and the world of literature in general to the students of the area. The department has been taking special interest in developing English communication abilities of students who are mostly from the vernacular medium of Assamese and Bodo. Since its
inception the Department is able to make its smooth journey through different courses designed in a specific way in the syllabus or curriculum under BU (earlier GU) and at present it offers choice based credit system undergraduate programme with Honours along with Compulsory Course, Skill Enhancement Course, Communicative English Course and Alternative English. The Department always aims at creating interests among students for innovative thinking and creative writing for
the good of humanity. The Department is now ready for NEP-2020.
