Brief History of the Department
Gyanpeeth Degree College was established in 1993. Gyanpeeth Degree College is affiliated to Bodoland University. It has received Special Central grant in 2009. It is a co-educational Arts College and the Political Science Department has been an indispensible department of the college and is an old department. A large number of students prefer political science as one of the subject of their course every year. In this way, a large number of students have graduated with political science as a subject in their Honours (Major) Course and Regular (General) Course. As per official record the following is journey of Political Science as a subject in the college.

Goals of the Department :
• To undertake teaching, learning and extension programs in the department of Political Science.
• To impart training to the student in order to equip them with academic and professional capability.
• To encourage research in the socio-political issues in accordance with the guideline of NEP.
• To undertake extension activities in order to create free, just and humane society.
